Puzzle: Four Tall Man’s Puzzle

Puzzle #4:

Next door to me live four brothers of different heights. Their average height is 74 inches, and the difference in height among the first three men is two inches. The difference between the third and the fourth man is six inches.

Can you tell how tall each brother is?

Explanation:

It is a very simple puzzle to answer.

As the average height of the four-person is 74 inches then the Total height of all of them will be 74 x 4 = 296 inches.

Let the height of the 3rd person be x and let’s consider the heights of all the people in increasing order.

As per the question, the First person’s height will be (x – 4), 

2nd person’s height will be ( x – 2)

And 4th person’s height will be ( x + 6)

Now, Adding all we get ( x -4 ) + ( x -2 ) + x + ( x + 6) = 296 

Or, 4x = 296 

Or, x = 74

Hence, the heights of the brothers are 70 inches, 72 inches, 74 inches, and 80 inches.
